Every POS terminal is equipped with a full database. It contains complete setup information and passively synchronizes data from other POS terminals to perform reporting if required.
Transaction data is immediately stored locally and synchronizes to the server in real time or passively if a connection is initially unavailable.
If disaster strikes and there is an unfortunate unrecoverable server crash, our technology enables short, simple, effortless steps to full data recovery.

Step 1: Repair your server hardware. Most importantly, our technology ensures your business is still fully operational without your server.
Step 2: When repaired, retrieve any backup database. No matter how old and in the worst case scenario that there is no backup, use a fresh, (yes fresh!) empty database as the starting point of the recovery. (It just takes longer)
Step 3: Run the One-Step Intelligence Recovery program. The server will automatically synchronize any missing data from the terminals and/or from the Head Office Server to fully recover and rebuild your complete up-to-date database.

N-tier Architecture
Volanté Systems is based on a 3-Tier Architecture system.
Data Tier: The data layer consists of database servers. This is where information is stored and retrieved. The data layer also handles the data synchronization between the terminals, stores and head-office.
Business Logic Tier: The business logic layer contains the business rules and functionality. It handles all the transaction processing and the peer-to-peer communication. It publishes a set of APIs that can be used to integrate, enhance, or even build customized applications on top of the Volanté engine.
Presentation Layer: The presentation layer is the layer the user interfaces with and interacts with the business logic layer. Volanté’s presentation layer consists of a Web interface, Kiosk, POS and mobile application. The presentation layer can be modified, enhanced or even replaced without affecting the business logic of the system.
Enterprise Backbone
Traditional enterprise management usually consists of different methods for remote management, manually copying databases, and/or data polling, all of which is not true enterprise computing.
Volanté’s base architecture was designed and built with a true enterprise backbone. The backbone allows data to effortlessly synchronize from terminal to store to head office and back to the terminals. This true two way synchronization allows configurations to be modified at store level and/or at head office giving you control where you want it.
The enterprise head office database contains a synchronized view of your entire operation providing you with all the data you require to make decision and the ability to make immediate changes across the entire as you require.
